ARTIST STATEMENT

I explore perspective through movement and alternative processes. Growing up as a dancer, I recognize the human body as an instrument of expression. Dance and photography share the elements of artistic, emotional, and physical emancipations. This drives me to create one of a kind, highly detailed images by working hands on. My work investigates light and movement, while delving into the resurgence of the darkroom. My process is as therapeutic as it is demanding. This is my escape from reality. Through cameraless photography I discovered a place where I could hide and express myself. As I look back to the history of photography, I push traditional techniques into unconventional circumstances. The irregular and unusual forms are personal to each viewer, but the visual conversation is universal. There is freedom in the lack of control, there is beauty in the way we break down.
